I have repaired or pre-emptively fixed dozens of these devices.  Every single one of them had either failed, or had components inside that were obviously going to fail.
The problem is that the capacitors used in these units are cheap and they fail with time (and they do so much faster than other similar devices like your TV or stereo).  The failing capacitors literally change shape (bulging) and leak!  As they near failure, the device may have trouble booting up, or will reboot itself, or will lose network connectivity, or won't connect to your audio sources.  I open these up and replace the problematic capacitors.  I use better replacement parts than the original ones, and as a result the device will last for many years.
Don't buy an older device that has not had this repair done to it, as you are tempting fate!!  These repaired devices are a much better investment!!!
